Emily Mahin Beihold [2] [3] (;[4] born January 21, 1999) is an American vocalizer-songwriter. She released her debut EP Infrared in 2017.[v] In 2020 she was noticed past music promotion make Live2 LCC who subsequently teamed upwards with her to assistance promote music going frontwards.[vi] After signing to Republic Records and Moon Projects, she released her major-label debut single, "Numb Little Problems" in 2022 which led her rise to fame.[1] On July 22, 2022, Beihold released her 2nd EP, Egg in the Backseat.[7]

Early life and education [edit]

Emily Beihold was born on January 21, 1999,[8] in Los Angeles, California.[ix] Her female parent immigrated from Iran to the United States during the Iranian Revolution.[x] At the age of half dozen, Beihold began to play the piano when she saw information technology in a shop window and she begged her parents to let her learn the piano, and consequently began writing songs at the age of seven.[vii] When she was seven years old, Beihold wrote her offset song, a patriotic song called "America Domicile".[9] [11]

In 2017, Beihold attended the Academy of California, San Diego where she competed in NCAA Fencing and received NCAA All-American Honors in 2019.[12]

Career [edit]

In the film I'yard Non Here, director Michelle Schumacher invited Beihold to write a track for the pic. She wrote the song, "Not Who Nosotros Were".[9]

She released a string of singles later on that and received attention on the social media platform TikTok for her song "City of Angels". On May 28, 2021, Beihold released her song "Groundhog Mean solar day", which likewise gained popularity via TikTok. She was subsequently signed on to Republic Records, with whom she released her nearly successful single, "Numb Little Issues".[i] In May 2022, Beihold released the single "Too Precious".

On July 22, 2022, she released her 2d EP, Egg in the Backseat. Egg in the Backseat explored themes of her mental health issues and her relationships.[7] On July 27, 2022, she signed to Sony Music Publishing.[13]

Beihold began touring in 2022, and opened for King Princess,[14] AJR, and the Jonas Brothers.[xv] In 2023, she opened for Lewis Capaldi.[16]

Musical influences [edit]

Beihold cites Queen and Regina Spektor as her influences, and grew upward listening to Feist, Fiona Apple, Kate Nash, Sara Bareilles,[17] and Lily Allen.[ix]
